Rundown (10/01-10/07) My Dear’s Danganronpa Dilemma

Over this past week I have been making my way through Danganronpa V3 while my significant other has been doing the same.  We have been discussing the game in detail as we continued our parallel playthroughs, and during that discussion, they revealed that they did not know that you could save during a class trial.  They assumed that a massive portion of a game, one part of a portable game series, would arbitrarily prohibit saving, and require players to rush through the entire 2+ hour trial in a single session.  They somehow never figured this out despite playing Danganronpa 1 and 2, as theynever opened the menu over the span of 20+ hours of class trials in those games.  This baffled me so much that I could not stop myself from sharing it. Rundown (2/14-2/20) Somebody Be My Friend and Be My Side!

1 Unknown Video Games Real Life…Yeah, not much to talk about this week. Yes, Kojima teased some fans by appearing at DICE 2016, and the launch of Street Fighter V upset a lot of people who did not expect the bare minimum from a game that will be built over the next four or five years. XCOM 2, which apparently is set after a failed run of Enemy Unknown, is apparently really buggy, and Sega gave away a bunch of Steam games because they felt like it. The Division had a beta that some people really enjoyed, even though I see little to no appeal in its general gameplay loop, and some other stuff happened, not much of it very interesting. Rundown (11/29-12/05) NDR3NSEK+TGA+PSX

0 DR2 Fuck Yeah alright here we go now get hyped energy to the maxSo, I’m currently replaying Final Fantasy XIII, because I felt I had unfinished business with that game, and I am thoroughly amazed that the creators were able to tolerate their creation.  As a writer, there is so much about this game’s story that drives me nuts, and I cannot believe that 65 million was invested into such a lackluster story.  That, and the gameplay’s auto battle system simply does not work as it is told to—  I’ll save it for the review proper, for now, The Game Awards and the Playstation Experience both happen, so here is a rundown of some of those things. Rundown (10/25-10/31) Sophisticated Sadism, Silliness, Schizophrenia, and Savagery

0 Mari freak on a leash mosnter devil demon destyer bad omen death to all who oppose me welcome to the abyss of dieBecause I’m a complete idiot, I keep on thinking about the design documentation for a game idea that I’ve had for a couple of months.  A sandbox game with destructible… everything, where you play as a schizophrenic shapeshifting demigod who switches between four core personality types depending on how the player wishes to have them act.  What do you do?  Absorb people, disguise yourself as them, cause domestic disputes, and war crimes of just about every caliber as you destroy a futuristic city designed after the late 20th century that automatically rebuilds itself whenever you destroy it, and people respawn.  It would cost millions to make, and as such will never exist.  A body swap centered visual novel, however, that I can probably do by myself if I hire an artist.  Or I could just use Eroge sprites like Student Transfer or Press Switch.  Both of which I’ll review come their next build. Rundown (9/27-10/03) Rundown CXXXIV: The Darkening

0 KLK Everybody's getting scary I don't know about this guys I am freaking out here spooky skelemenI should probably bring up how Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is quite the turd of a game from what I can tell.  With a Metacritic of 36 on the PS4 and a… 48 on XBO?  I thought that the XBO version wouldn’t work for some people because the game is so terribly made and needs a patch bigger than the game itself to, presumably, even run.  Bad framerate, textures, physics, and general game feel all make it a title that will likely just be an ash can project made to renew a license that Activision probably only spent a few million making and shat out the door six months too early…  Not that I really care about the series though, I just like the soundtracks of the first four games and that’s it. Rundown (9/13-9/19) TGS 2015: Darkest Despair!

0 PL Japan Breasts Woman FanserviceI’m not sure how often I’ve brought this up, but I think that Free to Play games were among the worst things to happen to the industry in recent years, and there have been a lot since I got in this industry’s intestines, mostly the large one, where poop is dried out, around 2006.  But after reading this little piece by somebody who has been getting neck deep in whale blood as his employers tried to manipulate individuals with mental problems for the sexiest thing in the mortal world, Kentucky granola, also known as USD, I feel I have an opportunity that I shall not waste, if only because I love the line and it is mostly true.  Free to play games were a mistake; they’re nothing but trash.  I hope they are outlawed by 2033, when the Great African War begins and half of it is destroyed by a nuclear explosion.  Buy War Bonds in preparation of the war to end all wars! Rundown (9/06-9/12) Chronologically Correct Sonic OSTs

0 DR I have no fanfic bigotry jerk fuckwit good girlI am surprised that Sega has not tried to shut down Sonic World, as it is basically a refined and reworked best-of compilation of Sonic Adventure 1, 2, and Heroes, all games I grew up with and love in a way, even if they don’t play very well.  But seeing that combined with enough care and autistic fan devotion to add in every possible playable character from Heavy and Bomb to Fang the Sniper makes me jitter in sheer disbelief that this is real.  True, I only played two levels of the game as Knuckles before I realized that this game was definitely still in an alpha or pre-alpha state and put it down, but if it is ever completed, this fan-game may very well be the best Sonic game.
