Nigmabox Rundown (10/02-10/08) Too Many Negatives!

20161005001927_1I have been on quite the negative note regarding the game’s I’ve been playing.  Metro 2033 Redux was a far worse version of a game I recall loving.  Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past was a massive disappointment that had me question the entire quality of the series after finishing that review.  MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune Vs. Zombies is just bad, and I’ll explain why soon, while Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the same infuriating crap as Sonic 1 and Sonic 2.  I really hoping that I can low the next few games on my docket, because I’m tired of all of this upset and all of these negative reviews.

Okay, time to resume weekly Pokemon Sun and Moon news updates.  Firstly, the middle evolutions for the starters have been revealed with Rowlet becoming the floppy dandy owl boy Dartrix.  Litten becomes Torracat, a slightly larger tiger cub whose primary distinction is a bell-lick external organ that serves as a fiery sack for all of their flame juices.  While Popplio transmogrifies their form into Brionne, an adorable dance loving seal with frilly fins that resemble a tutu.  As per usual, I am rather fond of the designs of these teenbopper Pokemons and intend to use them, though I am still quite curious whether or not the rumors regarding the final evolutions being split evolutionary lines holds water.  I can see these Pokemon becoming their leaked evolutions, but they don’t seem designed specifically around becoming them, for whatever sense that makes.

nxtgenpkmnThere was another new form revealed, one that had previously been seen in the anime with Ash-Greninja.  Details about this form, aside from having a head that slightly resembles the protagonist of the Pokemon anime, are vague, but a Greninja with the ability to become Ash-Greninja will be available to those who play the Pokemon Sun and Moon demo, releasing on October 18th.  Which will hopefully be a bit more substantial than the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire from a while back.

Beyond that, and clarification that while Mega Evolution is present in the game players will still need to purchase individual Mega Stones, some new features were shown.  Festival Park is a social hub of sorts where players can assign each other tasks and missions in exchange for Festival Coins that themselves can be used in shops in exchange for useful items.  These missions can be individual or global, and completing them allows the player to purchase a greater variety of goods.  It sounds interesting, but more like experimentation that will likely not go anywhere than a permanent fixture to the series.

Similarly, Poke Pelago, a side game that involves using and sending the Pokemon in your PC off to various islands where they can attract wild Pokemon, level themselves or their stats, or hunt for evolutionary stones.  Which sounds like a nice background task that will most likely be predicated on timers, and offer players some rewards for doing a minor task.  Following that was some news pertaining to online play, but I don’t really care about or for that sort of online element in Pokemon games.  Which I understand is missing the point in the eyes of some people.

Moving on, the much beloved Danganronpa series will be heading onto PS4 with Danganronpa 1&2 Reload, a compilation of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.  Details on this western exclusive collection have not been revealed other than an early 2017 release window, and a price point of $40, or $60 for the collector’s edition.  This is great news as the series is going to be available to so many more fans, but I have one question.  Will this be a straight port of the Vita versions or will there be higher quality assets?

dr-fetish-pervert-idiot-hate-angerIf it is a straight port, then the game has 720p quality visual assets, and will look a lot like the PC versions of the two titles, which would not be great.  If it is an enhanced port though, then what about the PC version?  Will that be updated with a new build?  Considering that the two games have sold a combined total surpassing 150,000 on Steam, I would hope that Spike Chunsoft and Abstraction games would update them.  If not, then despair will likely ensue…

Speaking of the waging battle between hope and despair, after nearly a decade of teasing, video game designer Michel Ancel announced that a new Beyond Good and Evil game has entered pre-production after posting a few pieces of concept art.  While this is good news, the fact that the game is still in the conceptual stages is very disconcerting, as development must have been restarted several times already, and that does not bode much confidence for the life of this iteration in the Beyond Good and Evil series.  Even though I did not care much for the original, I know this series means a lot to a lot of people, and after so much teasing, they should finally be given the game they’ve been anticipating for 13 years at this point… It’s been 13 bloody years.

mari-obey-the-fool-or-else-i-shall-torment-you-until-the-end-of-time-terror-and-spiceyAfter a saddening announcement was made last month, Sony and Bethesda Game Studios have reached an agreement regarding mod support for the Playstation 4.  Essentially, mods will be allowed on the PS4 so long as the mods themselves do not add additional assets to the game, meaning you cannot replace the dragons in Skyrim with Thomas the Tank engines with the voice of Macho Man.  It kind of misses the mark, and is a pretty foolish concept when you get down to it, but it is something.  Also, both Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition will receive PS4 Pro support that will natively render both games at 4K.  Yay.
